The atelier of Fabio Nicotra is in Piazza Olivella n°15 in the historical center of Palermo , between the Massimo theater, the Politeama theater and the music school (Conservatorio). His very favourable position make it a meeting point for musicians from all over the word, stimulating Fabio Nicotra in the acquisition of higher competence in the resolution of problems regarding string instruments' restoration and construction. Thanks to his experience as cellist, he pays attention not only on the mechanical aspects, but also on the set up and the instrument registration, thus being able to satisfy the various musicians requests.
He is interested very much in the Sicilian and Neapolitan ancient luthery and he tries to follow their styles and to understand the constructing techniques of their ancient lute maker masters. For this reason he collected some ancient Sicilian string instruments in his atelier .
Master violin maker and expert in restoration and reproduction of ancient string instruments from Sicilian and Neapolitan school. He presents his works at the luthery international exposition.
